About
I'm a doctoral candidate and former professional dancer working towards a Ph.D. under the supervision of Dr. Gretchen Kerr in the interdisciplinary Faculty of Kinesiology at the University of Toronto. I am grateful to study on the traditional land of the Huron-Wendat, the Seneca, and the Mississaugas of the Credit, and to have lived in six cities across Canada and Germany for academic and dance training and employment. My research interests include holistic student experiences at professional (vocational) ballet schools; experiences of interpersonal violence in sport and dance settings; and safeguarding initiatives for ballet, dance, and sport organizations. I have training and experience in qualitative and quantitative research methods, and I completed the Centre for Critical Qualitative Health Research Certificate. You can find out more about my work, publications, and conference presentations in the research tab or on Google Scholar.
As a dancer, I trained at multiple studios and schools in Canada and was a company member at Citie Ballet (now Ballet Edmonton). After moving to Germany, I worked as a company dancer at Friedrichstadt-Palast Berlin and as a freelance dance artist for commercial, television, and film projects. While completing my undergraduate degree at the University of British Columbia, I was a dance instructor at iDance Vancouver and UBC Recreation. Outside of my research and work as a teaching and research assistant, I enjoy taking pilates classes, trying new restaurants, and attending performances in Toronto. I'm always happy to chat about dance and research!
